Qurbanomics in Action

Some time ago, through a sharing made in The Future Research media platform, I explored the potential of “qurban” as a significant prospective contributor to the halal economy viz a vie national economy through research and innovation. I believe that, like Islamic finance, Islamic education, Tabung Haji, zakat, waqf, and halal certification, qurban deserves comprehensive scrutiny and research to establish its role in mainstream national Islamic economic development.

Proud to see Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), our partner, through its Faculty of Islamic Studies (Fakulti Pengajian Islam), has risen to the challenge and obtained a financial grant for a research in the field. Kudos!

They have joined alongside with prominent corporations such as Maybank, Putra International Centre UPM, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Al Rajhi Bank, AirAsia, and Touch ‘n Go Malaysia, The Insitute of Islamic Understanding (IKIM) among others, to explore this divinely ordained practice of Muslims.

Meanwhile, it’s imperative that agencies of the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, and their respective agencies will seize the opportunities and participate in this promising venture.

The Future Research is proud to be contributing and be a partner and a committed collaborator in such exercises contributing to a more vibrant Islamic economy which may further enrich its ecosystem.
